Even homemakers are CEOs of businesses called Home and Family. In this episode, I share how I learned to pray about my business with a small group of female entrepreneurs and come to understand my desire to eliminate words like busy, crazy, and exhausted from my life, conversations, and journals. Hi, welcome to episode number three of the Freetobe Podcast. This is Donna Wyland, and I'm glad you're here. This episode is called Free To Be Still.

This morning as I filled several pages of my journal with thoughts, feelings and prayers, I noticed a pattern forming. As I wrote, I praise God for the wonderful vacation he had allowed my husband and I to take the previous week, then added how exhausted we were. When we returned home from our 11 plus hour drive. I expressed gratitude over God's goodness at bringing us home just in time to unload the car before driving to an afternoon cookout to celebrate my daughter's birthday, followed by our grandson's final soccer tournament game that night.

Again, I noticed that at the end of that very long but joyful day, we were thankful but exhausted. The third time I wrote the word exhausted. I was stunned. Am I really exhausted that often I wondered? If so why? That cannot possibly be good for anyone's mental, emotional and physical health. For good or bad, as I pondered the question I posed to myself, I have to admit I do indeed feel exhausted at the end of many of my days.

1:30

Perhaps you feel the same way and wonder how it can be changed. How can we feel so exhausted during COVID quarantines and shutdowns, and homeschooling our kids? Though homeschooling can be very stressful. I mean, we're home. We don't even have to dress up or put on makeup if we don't want to, unless we have a Zoom call for work, of course.

So what's going on? I don't have all the answers. But one thing I know for sure. If we're wired for productivity, like many of us are, we find ways to continue the frantic pace, because we wouldn't know what to do if we didn't. We're not sure how we feel about ourselves, or our lives if we weren't getting something done. Many days trying to accomplish more than God ever intended us to do.

2:22

So how do we bring God into the busy the crazy and be exhausted? Interestingly, I was recently invited to join a small group of fellow Christian entrepreneurs, women with husbands and children and houses and jobs, to explore life as a prayer-powered entrepreneur. Thanks to Kim Avery's excellent book, The Prayer Powered Entrepreneur, we are learning together, how okay it is to pray about our businesses, with our focus on relationships, with ourselves, with God, with others, clients, customers, ministry receivers, and with our businesses. Who knew?

3:05

The truth is even homemakers are the CEOs of their own businesses. It's called home and family if you have children, and it's the hardest business to manage. Because as CEO of your home, you need to be a wife, mother, chef, housekeeper, financial manager or steward, nurse, helpmate, interior decorator, playdate coordinator, award-winning shopper, counselor, mentor, partner, organizer, teacher, disciplinarian, spiritual co-leader, detective, and Ninja. If your children tend to be on the messy side.

3:47

It's no wonder most of us are exhausted. Here's what I've learned through the prayer power program. As women, we are all entrepreneurs with an intense need to surrender to God as CEO of our lives, families, ministries and businesses. We are better wives, mothers, daughters and friends, when we have sufficient peace in our hearts, and rest for our minds, bodies, souls and spirits. Next week is the last week of our Prayer Powered Entrepreneur Sessions. And I have to admit, I'm a little sad to see it end. Learning to truly cast my cares on God, expecting him to lead the way. And to bless the work of my hand has been a life-changing and business-changing experience.

4:40

Who would have thought that it's okay to pray about success and clients and budgets and specific projects to be completed well and on time. The truth is, God wants to hear our prayers of healing and comfort and concern for those we love and for the world. But he also you To hear our prayers and our gratitude with regard to ourselves, our homes and our businesses, through the prayer powered entrepreneur online sessions, I have learned not only the blessing and peace that comes from being still in God's presence. I've also learned that there's power in being still God's power, to work all things for good in the background of our busy lives, as we wait expectantly for him to hear and answer our prayers.

5:35

Now that I'm very aware of the frequency with which I use the words, busy, crazy and exhausted, I am committed to slowing down to the speed of God's light, which is measured by how much we trust Him, to lead our lives and to bless us and those we love with what he knows this past. May we all feel free to be still with God today and every day, and may the words busy, crazy and exhausted, be slowly eliminated from our conversations and our journals. Thanks for joining me today on the Freetobe Podcast. Have a wonderful day. We'll see you for the next recording.
